Message just looking for one set to purchase. I found out that there were no 230mm gears available so I had these made (long story less long). My car is a sport 500 powered Z that ran 123mph. I wanted to do an addition for performance that didn't involve any more horsepower/engine work, therfore the gears. I think these gears will not only work (decrease E.T.), but work well with small to moderate size turbo upgrades. This is the formula I used to figure out if I "would be out of gear" at the end of the 1/4 mile, and how it would reduce my theoretical top speed: gear ratio=engine RPM x tire diameter (in inches) / MPH x 336. Or: MPH=RPM x tire diameter / gear ratio x 336. With that said, and some #s plugged in, you would be going 132MPH with 26" tall tires (pretty much the standard size for the bigger drag radials or the ET Streets), at 7,000RPM with a 4.10 gear in 4th gear. I am going to try the gears on Greg D.s car (126+ MPH), ZHound's car (132MPH) and possibly some other high MPH Zs. The screwed up deal about it ( for me ) is after getting the gears manufactured, my fuel pump took a dump on me at the strip and toasted cylinder #6. Anyway, you may want to take a look at some before and after results. But I agree with you in principle, that there reaches a point where gearing can actually hurt performance if it takes you too far past your peak power before the 1/4, straight, freeway onramp, etc. Take care, Mark
